◎ Character's Name:
◎ Character's Canon:
Persona 4: Golden
◎ Character's Age:
Physical age: about seventeen or sixteen, actual age is probably older than dirt since she's Izanami.
◎ Canon Point:
After the ski trip, but before endgame.
Here you are.
◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense?
No and not really. She would probably be able to pick up on a noticeable or powerful presence, but otherwise it's nothing too special.
All Characters have their very own title in the Persona 4 Arena games. Most of the time they poke fun at the characters by exaggerating their character traits for laughs, such as Yu's (the main character) "The Sister-Complex Kingpin of Steel" or Teddie's "The Beast in Heat". However Marie's title, "The Antisocial Poet of the Hollow Forest" actually fits somewhat well. One of Marie's most obvious traits is probably how distant she seems when compared to others. In fact when you first meet her, before she introduces herself, the game merely labels her as "Unfriendly-looking girl". This title seems to fit her quite well in the early stages of the game, but you
or should I say Yu
find out pretty quickly that there's more to Marie than just a grumpy exterior.
While Marie is supposed to be a goddess, there isn't really all that much that separates her from normal person. She an still be hurt or killed like any other human, but she's supposedly more resilient than the average person--though no more or less than the members of the Investigation Team.
Though her body is similar to a normal human's, her abilities are not. At her current state Marie is still lacking a part of herself, as the being who split from her and became Izanami is still alive. However she does still have a wide variety of abilities to use at her advantage thanks to Ameno-sagiri and Kunino-sagiri combining with her. For starters she is able to control and affect the weather to some degree, though as she isn't fully complete this is mostly limited to light snow flurries and rain, though she can call down strong bolts of lightning.
Her bag is also made of some type of strong magic, as it can store just about anything she needs, from exploding presents to a jack in the box of Igor, the proprietor of the Velvet Room. As Margaret gave it to her, it would appear that she is the reason behind its strange properties.
Marie does indeed have a Persona, though it's not fully explained why she received it. The end of Golden shows her with Kaguya during the end credits, the very same Persona you get from finishing her Social Link as well as the Persona she uses in battle during Ultimax. Though it's not 100% set in stone, the most logical explanation as to why Marie has a Persona is because she "faced herself" before she became Kusumi-no-Okami. When Marie regained her memories she created the Hollow Forest and then hid herself away from the "Real World" so that no one would find her. This is because she felt that she had to die in order to completely destroy the fog once and for all. However, she was denying her own feelings in the process. Deep down she knew she wanted to spend more time with the protagonist and his friends, that she wanted to live, but convinced herself that there was no way she could be happy and that she had to resign herself to her fate.
Once her friends showed up in an attempt to save her and convinced her that her life was important and that she might not have to die, she accepted it and allowed the fog to take over her body so it could be destroyed while she remained, almost as if it became a sort of armor for her. As Shadows come from the Fog, this explanation does seem to make the most sense.
But onto Kaguya.
Unlike the Investigation Team's signature Persona , Marie's is actually able to be used by the main character. However, it's important to realize that Marie's version is different from his. The Protagonist can craft Kaguya at will and create it with whatever moveset his heart desires, while Marie is stuck with Kaguya and her moveset, though it can use Lighting or Zio skills, judging by Ultimax.
Though Kaguya can be used for battle, she is slightly more adept at support. Her skills, as taken from the wiki, are as follows:
High (80%) chance of instant death from the power of Light on one enemy.
Recovers all HP to all allies. Can be used in the field.
Protects an ally from an instant death attack once.
Medium (40%) chance of instant death from the power of Light on all enemies.
Light-based attacks are 1.5 times more effective.
Halves the SP cost for all magic skills.
Deals Heavy electric based damage to all enemies. (Replaces Fast Heal since its use wouldn't make much sense in an RP environment, and because of the previous mention that it can use electrical skills.)
Finally, there are a few important things to note about Kaguya. It is exceptionally weak to fire-based attacks and is a magic-based Persona, meaning it uses magic to fight rather than brute strength. Though SP will not be implemented in the same way as it is in the games, I will be exercising discretion with it. Kaguya will not have unlimited magic ability, nor will it be able to fire off insta-kill attacks on all enemies. Insta-kill attacks only work on common enemies that can be encountered anywhere, while stronger enemies are completely unharmed by it. This includes player characters if she were to fight.
◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
Her outfit, hammerspace purse, an Igor jack-in-the-box, several pens and pencils, and a notebook.
air because m air e hahahaha
Awful jokes aside, Marie's element is definitely water. Not just because it is associated with life, as Izanami is, but because like water Marie can be cold and hard as ice, and yet over time melt. She can be relaxing to spend time with, like the feeling of water softly brushing over your toes, or she can be like a massive tidal wave sweeping you into the shore with your head stuck in the sand. Though I choose water mainly because the shape she takes often has to do with those around her, just as water does.
Sight. Marie is a very artsy person, and seeing is her main way of experiencing the world. She notes the things around her whenever the protagonist takes her out, and she uses her sight in order to write her poems.
◎ Seven Character Traits:
[+ Artistic + Caring + Loyal]
[- Easily bored - Cold - Naive]
